Trudie and I finally got a chance to venture out for a walk today.
The heavy snowfall we got a couple of weeks ago prevented us from traveling anywhere, and then the rain … and then it was still a bit too cold…
Today was cloudy, drizzly, +7 degrees, but we were dying to get out with our cameras.
We decided to go to Buttertubs Marsh. Buttertubs is a bird and wildlife sanctuary within Nanaimo, with a 2 km walking path, including observation decks and a tower for bird watching. I am most excited about the role that the sanctuary plays in the protection of the Western Painted Turtle. With the increase of urbanization the turtle’s survival has been threatened.
